The Westland Lynx has seen decades of success multi purpose helicopter showcasing its maneuverability, agility and speed as it was a sought after aircraft from the military to acrobatic teams. Taking the world wide helicopter speed record of an average speed of 249.10 miles per hour in 1986, 35 years and counting since the record has been set and yet to be broken. The Westland Lynx over the decades saw over 40 variants created to support whatever role was required, the upgraded HMA 8, MK 88 and the MK 90b were all fitted to see in action serving in the Navy. Wheels to land on flight decks, simplified flight control, Seaspray radar allowed this helicopter to be perfect for maritime patrols, search and rescue and anti-submarine and anti-surface warefare. Considered a detrimental aircraft in the Navy, the Westland Lynx served a total of 40 years, shows just what a capable machine the Lynx provided in military and civil service.
